Anouk Johanna is an artist who grew up in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and is an accomplished painter, pen and ink artist, ceramic sculptor, printmaker and scrimshaw artist whose work has been sold nationally and internationally for more than 45 years to private collectors, through shows and her website as well as through galleries.

Her scrimshaw art has been written up in many national and international magazines.

In 2020 Anouk's house, studio and most of her artwork were destroyed by the CZU Complex Fires in the Santa Cruz mountains. In October 2021 Anouk moved from Santa Cruz, CA to Chapel Hill, NC.

Presently Anouk is teaching Watercolor classes at the ArtsCenter in Carrboro,  North Carolina.

Her teaching style includes showing artworks by watercolor masters, demos and positive feedback so students gain confidence and inspiration.

After losing most of her work, Anouk felt an intense urge to experiment with new and exciting ways to express herself. She is exploring different methods to apply permanent colored and black inks to paper, canvas and boards by themselves and combined with mixed media.

This is an exciting and simultaneously challenging time of watching and feeling new growth evolve.
