Watercolors

Watercolor is a magical and simultaneously very challenging medium.

There are many different watercolor techniques but no matter what style or approach, I consider simplification, spontaneous marks and textures as important as the traditional rules of colors, shapes and values.

In my view, the best watercolor paintings are the ones where there is a fine balance between making it happen and letting it happen.

Many beginners are scared of the lack of control they have with watercolor, but this is exactly where the magic and the fun of it lies.

It flows—and water is the carrier for the paint pigments. To figure out how much water to use is one of the most important things to learn.
